After a magnificent mountain flight to Lukla we follow the Dudh Kosi valley to Namche Bazaar. The trail to Gokyo is a gradual ascent up the valley passing through patches of birch and rhododendron forest where the elusive musk deer can sometimes be seen. Through small yak-grazing settlements we reach the Gokyo lakes where we climb the Gokyo Peak (5480m) and enjoy stunning summit mountain scenery including Everest, Makalu and Cho Oyo. After the Cho La pass, we reach Dzongla from where we enable to watch spectacular view of Ama Dablam and Taweche.
After the Zhongla ascent, we continue towards Gorak Shep and climb to Kala Pattar (5545m) from where we enjoy an impressive up-close view of Everest.
Our return route passes through Tengboche, a magnificent location with a fascinating monastery, where we rest and savor the incredible scenery, including magnificent views of Everest, Ama Dablam (6856m), Kantega (6809m), Kwangde (6194m), Nuptse (7879m), Lhotse (8511m) and many more trekking peaks of Khumbu Himalaya range. Finally we get back to Lukla then we fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu.
TREKKING ITINERARY
Day 01 : Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2800m) – 30 minutes/ Trek to Phakding (2650) – 4 hours:
We will transfer you to domestic airport early morning then fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. After getting at Lukla we start first days walk through forests and small villages. You will descend slightly, following the Duhd Kosi River, passing scatted houses.The final leg climbs a staircase up to Phakding.
Day 02 : Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m) – 6 hours:
Follow the Bhote Koshi through forest and pasture land, along a valley dotted with small Sherpa settlements. Cross the Bhote Koshi and climb steeply along switch-backing trail to large Sherpa village, views of Everest (8848m) and Lhoste (8511m) come into sight. This prosperous town is the largest Khumbu. A traditional trading center, the Bazaar is held every Saturday. The goods on display are available. Thamserku (21886’/ 6648m) and Kwangde RI (6224m) become visible to the east and west, and the sacred mountain Khumbila (5707m) dominates the skyline to the north behind the village. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.
Day 03 : Rest and acclimatization at Namche Bazaar & Namche Bazaar Explore:
A pleasant day can be spent exploring the village, talking to the Sherpas and marveling at the incredible scenery. A hike to the Everest view hotel for excellent lunch with Everest view. The rest day is intended for acclimatization purpose. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.
Day 04 : Trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole (4200m) – 7 hours:
You can get clear views of snowy peaks, mountains and vegetations. You can observe their living style and culture. People over here irrigate the crops for their needs and earn their income. Farming and lodging are the main occupation of Dole people. Overnight at guest house or lodge in Dole.
Day 05 : Trek from Dole to Mochermo (4470m) – 6 hours:
Crossing Dole, you will be headed for Mochermo which is the way to Gokyo and you can have an excellent view of the valleys. We have to climb the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpz glacier. Ngozumpa Glacier is one of the major places of attraction because of its appearance in the world’s second largest glaciers. Overnight at guest house or lodge in Mochermo.
Day 06 : Trek from Mochermo to Gokyo (4770m) – 4 hours:
Your nearest way to the wonderful village Gokyo begins here. At morning, you will be starting trekking towards Gokyo. Gokyo village is our main destination to be reached. You have to trek via Ngozumpa Glacier where the trail selects its zigzagged path. You can take the close views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Thamserkum, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Kusum Khagaru, Mt. Kongde and so many on the way to Gokyo. Gokyo village is situated on the northern shore of Dudh Pokhari which looks amazingly outstanding. Although it is far from the urban city but it doesn’t lack any facilities for its customer. This village is the main attraction of the trek. Gokyo valley trekking is an alternative route to traditional trails to the Everest Base Camp. Overnight at guest house or lodge Gokyo.
Day 07 : Hike up to Gokyo Ri (5360 meters) early in the morning then Back to Gokyo – 4 hours:
Today is the day for acclimatization in Gokyo. But if you are interested then you can go for hiking up to Gokyo Ri early in the morning to see the amazing views of Gokyo village. Gokyo Ri is an excellent view point in Everest Region. You have to hike up 4 hours to reach Gokyo Ri. Get the memorable views and descend back to Gokyo. Overnight at Guest House in Gokyo.
Day 8 : Trek from Gokyo to Thangna (4500 meters) – 5 hours:
From Gokyo the trail descends, glancing at the view of the fine mountains and natural beauty, towards Thangna which is consider as the base of Cho -La Pass (5330m). Overnight at lodge inn Thangna.
Day 9 : trek from Cross Cho La pass (5300 meters) to Dzongla (4710 meters) – 6 hours:
Today’s hike is a long walk starting before sunrise at 4/5 am to reach the pass by 9-10AM or else weather condition will greatly affect our journey. We cross over at an altitude of 5300 meters we could be exposed to strong winds if crossing too late. We start to climb steeply that is regularly used and easy to follow. However, the problem may arise due to the altitude and snow. It often causes terrible problems to cross the pass if it is covered by snow. As you reach the top, you are rewarded by the magnificent views, then we descend to the Dzongla at noon. Hike for approx 7 hrs. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 10 : Trek from Dzongla Trek to Lobuche (4910 meters) – 6 hours:
The trail continues along the moraine from Dzongla affording you splendid views of Kala Pattar and Pumori before you reach Lobuche. This is an easy day had long and tough trekking day yesterday. Approx hike 3 hrs. Overnight at teahouse.
Day 11 : Trek from Lobuche (4900m.) to Gorakshep (5180m.) – 4 hours, Trek from Gorakshep (5180m.) to Everest Base Camp (5364m) and retrace back to Gorakshep 3 hours:
From Lobuche we start to trek start slowly and you will have lunch at Gorakshep, take rest and if the trekker feels fine, the participants can walk to Everest Base Camp. You will spend about 4 and half hours trek up to Everest Base Camp and back to Gorakshep. The trek is on glacier and snow capped rocks. You can also see many small frozen lakes around the Everest Base Camp and return back to Gorakshep.
Day 12: Trek from Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5545m.) and back to Pheriche (4243m.) – 6 hours.:
You accomplish an early morning climb to Kala Patthar (5545m.) to enjoy the view of sunrise. From Kala Patthar you can have a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and many other mountain peaks like Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku and many more. We return back from Katala Patthar to Gorakshep and have a breakfast. After breakfast we start to trek to Pheriche. Pheriche is the place where one can make phone calls to any part of the world. You can see the mountain Yaks in Pheriche. Yaks are normally regarded as the porters in this area. The town of Pheriche is known as windy town. There you can see the perpendicular walls of Cholatse and Tawache. There is located Himalayan Rescue Association Aid Post and foreign volunteer doctors are to provide medical treatment to trekkers as well as local people.
Day 13 : Trek from Pheriche to Khumjung (3790m.) via Phortse (3750m.) – 6hours:
The trail descends to Pangboche and now the trail starts turning up and down in every half an hour to Phortse. On the way there is an opportunity to see wild life in and around the area like mountain goat, musk deer and many species of Himalayan birds. There are village monasteries in Pangboche and Phortse rich in cultural heritage of Sherpa people. Along this, you see an old monastery in Pangboche which is believed to have been established during 16th century. The Pangboche village is known to have highest permanent settlement throughout the year.
We continue our trail from Phortse to Khumjung. The trail here descends for early twenty minutes and ascends up steeply for almost one hour to Mongla (4000m.). From this spot, you can see the panoramic view of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kusum Kangaru, Konde-Ri and Tawache peak. Now the trail descends and ascends frequently up to Khumjung. The Khumjung village is said to have the largest settlement of Khumbu region. There is well-equipped high school built by Edmund Hillary in 1960. Not limited to this, there is an old monastery where the skull of Yeti is believed to have preserved. The neighboring village of Khumjung is Khunde where a well equipped Hospital is built by Edmund Hillary in 1964.
Day 14 : Trek from Khumjung to Monjo (2835m.) – 5 hours:
While trekking from Khumjung to Monjo you come across few Sherpa settlements and you will meet friendly Sherpa people. Trekking this day is little bit easier in comparison to other days. Monjo is a small village and the area is mainly for agriculture. You can see people being engaged in agricultural activities.
Day 15 : Trek from Monjo to Lukla (2800m.) 5 hours:
This day the trail gradually descends and ascends as well. You cross the Dudh Koshi river over suspension bridges.
Day 16 : Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu – 30 minutes:
You will fly from Lukla to Kathmandu early in the morning and we will pick up from airport to hotel.
